Educational Outreach

“I saw MARS at a summer engineering camp at WVU, so I took it back to Putnam County to start my own team.”

Purpose: To engage youth in STEM activities with fun, innovative activities while exposing them to FIRST.
Accomplishments:
- Designed LEGO model of NASA’s MMS satellite probe for classroom use.
- Created STEM curriculum for area youth summer camps (4-H, Boy Scouts, Jason Project, etc.).
- Developed STEM activity sheets for local youth (WVU Children’s Hospital, Morgantown Public Library, MARS open house, summer camps).
- Created children’s book, Marvin the Friendly Robot, for read-aloud at WVU Children’s Hospital and the Morgantown Public Library.
Fun Fact: WV rookie FRC Team 3492 participated on the winning alliance at the 2011 Pittsburgh FRC Regional and will attend the World Competition in St. Louis.
