Sponsorship and How it Works

Sponsoring your local Martian is a great way to support science and engineering education in the Morgantown area. 100% of donations go towards competition registration fees, robot parts, and team hotel bills during travel to regional competitions.

MARS is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, offering sponsoring organizations the ability to make tax deductible contributions to the team. You can make a donation to MARS by sending a check or money order made payable to Your Community Foundation with Mountaineer Area RoboticS on the memo line in the enclosed envelope. Email mars2614@gmail.com for more info.

2017 Hellas Planitia Sponsor Award- NASA’s IV&V Facility

In 2017, MARS instituted the Hellas Planitia Award (named after the largest crater on the surface of Mars) to honor a sponsor with a “crater” impact in helping us fulfill our mission. The inaugural award was presented to NASA’s IV&V Facility for their immense influence over expansion of the state’s FIRST and STEM networks. The facility has worked with MARS for the past five years to inspire the creation of over 200 robotics teams around WV.
